How do you refer to text as a noun?
I am currently having a problem with a creative writing piece. A character is working in front of a chalk board and is interacting with the words written down. On the chalkboard is written efficiency in bold print and the character underlines it. Can i simply write, “He underlined efficiency,” or “He underlined EFFICIENCY,”? Or does the word efficiency have to be in quotation marks also? (IE “He underlined ‘EFFICIENCY.’”)
